September 4th

Jack's day went really well. During the past two days he has been weened off two of his blood pressure medications and is doing very well despite the added support. They are trying to get him stronger so that he can breathe on his own and hopefully get a little bigger. He is still swollen on his flanks and abdomen but is showing improvement. We are excited because he is beginning to loosen up around his belly button and show little wrinkles in his skin. His blood pressure has stabilized to the point that they have stopped replacing the fluid that he is losing, this will help reduce the swelling even more. Additionally Jack is no longer on the paralytic medication so he is moving around a little and crying more. It is heartbreaking to watch him cry because the little guy doesn't make a sound. He does all the things little babies do when they cry except you can't hear it. Today Jack taught us that he knows who his mommy is. When he gets upset Sarah is able to soothe him and help him through the suctioning of his airway. It doesn't take long for mom to calm him down, I think she's already won his heart. You all have been so nice with your expressions of love and kindess, we truly are indebted to you. Among the many gifts Jack has received are these airplane mittens our good friends gave him, we thought they were cute enough to merit a picture.

Another good day!!! I bet Sarah is so cute with him!!! I remember how sad it was to watch Landen cry when he was on his ventilator. When he got strong enough and new he didn't need it he just ripped it out! You will have to talk to Jack about doing that when he gets a little stronger! We are still praying for you guys!

Now he can't accidently scratch himself OR pull out any tubes! Those mittens are pretty helpful!

Like Heather said, if there is something we can do, taking care of the house/yard, bring snacks/dinner, anything, just let me know. We are praying that you can all go home soon and that your strength and faith holds out as long as it's needed.

Sarah, you are off the hook this time...the yw are speaking on Sunday.

Thanks for updating us and know that we love you and are thinking about you and praying often.

By the way, you guys sound like super parents. You are brand new and just thrown into difficult trials, but are thriving and loving your little guy so much. I am impressed and honored to know you!

I read Jack's blog every day to get an update. What a great way to keep a journal of this and Mike said, it's probably theraputic to type it all out. You guys are wonderful and we are thankful for your examples of strength. Hang in there. The prayers wont stop coming.

You guys are an example of strength to our household each day as we read Jack's blog. His heart warms our hearts, your faith bolsters ours, and his pictures bring pure joy. Your conviction and devotion remind us what an extraordinary family Jack has. Thanks so much for allowing us to share the spirit of your precious boy. Jan (1 of 3)

Another good day, my heart sings! We love the blog at out house, we check it, all three of us, several times during the evening hoping for the latest update. And we rejoice when the news is good and fall to our knees at other times. You two are such a great example of faith and following the admonition, "Be of good cheer." We are all trying to follow the example you set. I keep Jack's blog and picture on my computer screen all day and send up my prayers each time I look at it. I love you all. Lulu
